iPhone Screen Repair with DRY ICE!!

Do you have an iPhone with a smashed screen? You can use Dry Ice method to separate the broken glass from LCD and install a new glass. This process can be challenging. We strongly recommend that you consult with a Fixspot professional before attempting this. You can watch the video or read below to find out how this works.

How can you repair the screen:

This method is only applicable when you only need to replace the glass on your touch screen. If the LCD which is behind the glass of your touch screen is also damaged, then you will need to replace the touch screen completely.  Also. you need to make sure you are not applying too much force when you are removing the glass pieces from LCD. LCD is a very thin layer and can be broken very easily.

The glass is glued to the LCD. When replacing only the glass, the glue must be melted to allow for the glass to be removed from the LCD. Smartphone repairers usually use a heat gun for this step but it is possible to go the opposite direction to achieve the same results. If you apply very low temperature by using liquid nitrogen or dry ice, you will freeze the glue and can separate the  glass and the LCD.

How does Dry Ice work:

Dry Ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide. It is pressurised carbon dioxide that has surface temperature of -78.5 °C. This is cold enough to freeze the glue in your iPhone, resulting in the separation of the LCD and glass screen. When the dry ice warms up to room temperature, it sublimates, meaning it changes from solid state to gas state. This is an advantage here as it minimizes the risk of wetting the device being repaired.

Safety Notes:

Although dry ice is safe to handle, it can cause frostbite if it comes into contact with skin. Since it carbon dioxide, it must be handled and stored in well-ventilated areas. During this process, gloves are required to prevent frostbite burnings or injuries from fine glass pieces.

Though this looks like a lot of fun, but we strongly recommend that you have your device repaired by a  Fixspot professional. At Fixspot, we guarantee high quality and fast repair of your device.
